For classic game viewing and the Great Migration in the Masai Mara, aim for July to October. For fewer crowds, lush scenery and good value, the green season (November to May) is beautiful. There is no truly bad time to be on safari in Kenya.
Sparse vegetation and animals gathering at water sources make wildlife easier to spot. This is peak safari season — superb viewing, but busier and pricier.
Short and long rains bring lush landscapes, newborn animals and dramatic skies. Parks are quieter and prices softer, with occasional afternoon showers.
From roughly July to October, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move into the Masai Mara, with dramatic river crossings. Timing varies year to year with the rains, so we plan around the most likely windows rather than guaranteeing a single date.
